This could include Mr. Starr and his crew for their tatics used during this investigation. Yes, I would be honored to be your President. I believe all the suffering Bill and I have had to endure was for a purpose – to clear a path for my presidency. Here’s what I will do for you, and what I expect you to do for me and American in return:

Group wants woman in White House in 10 years

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The organization that created "Take Our Daughters to Work Day" Thursday launched a campaign to put a woman in the White House by 2008.

The Ms. Foundation for Women inaugurated its White House Project at a news conference in Washington, saying it was high time women were represented in the pool of candidates seeking the presidency.

"Nearly 40 years ago, the call went out to put a man on the moon and today we are issuing a call to put a woman in the White House as a 10-year initiative," said Barbara Less, chair of the project.

"We want to have women run in every presidential cycle and for it to become a normal event," she said. Saying they had polling information indicating that 75 percent of American voters were ready to elect a qualified woman as president, organizers laid out a program intended to maximize the chances of that happening.

It said it had selected a board of prominent scholars, business people, politicians and distinguished women to put together a list of 20 possible candidates.

Voters in 12 key states would be invited to narrow that list down to five women whom they would like to see run for president, as they leave polling stations on Nov. 3, when the nation stages mid-term state and congressional elections. The group would then put these five forward for consideration for leadership positions during the 2000 presidential campaign. Lee said the group had already raised $2 million to finance its campaign and would open low-cost membership to citizens nationwide to boost its resources. Children and students would also be invited to join for nominal fees.

"The White House Project aims to fulfill the true promise of American democracy -- to make ours a government of all the people, women as well as men," said Marie Wilson, president of the Ms. Foundation.

Currently, nine of the 100 U.S. Senators are women as well as 53 of the 435 members of the House of Representatives. Three of the 50 states are run by women governors.

The United States has trailed many European nations in achieving a more equal division of political representation, even though women have become crucial in political campaigns. In the 1996 presidential election, women ensured President Clinton's victory, giving him a 17-percentage point advantage over Republican Bob Dole, while the male vote split evenly.

There is evidence that more women than men vote and women account for up to 53 percent of the voting register in some states due to longer life expectancy. Only one woman has ever been included on a major-party presidential ticket -- Geraldine Ferraro who was unsuccessful Democratic vice presidential candidate in 1988.

A recent poll showed that Elizabeth Dole, a former Cabinet secretary who is president of the American Red Cross as well as Bob Dole's wife, could beat Vice President Al Gore if she were the Republican nominee in 2000.

But Dole said this week she did not plan to run. She remains a possible vice presidential candidate. On the Democrat side, many have suggested that California Sen. Dianne Feinstein might be an attractive vice presidential choice in 2000.

The "Take Our Daughters to Work Day" has become a huge annual event in the six years of its existence, with thousands of corporations and public and private institutions putting on programs designed to encourage girls to expand their horizons and their professional aspirations.

A Blizzard Of Lies

Americans of all political persuasions are coming to the sad realization that our first lady -- a woman of undoubted talents who was a role model for many in her generation -- is a congenital liar.

Drip by drip, like Whitewater torture, the case is being made that she is compelled to mislead, and to ensnare her subordinates and friends in a web of deceit.

1. Remember the story she told about studying The Wall Street Journal to explain her 10,000 percent profit in 1979 commodity trading? We now know that was a lie told to turn aside accusations that as the governor's wife she profited corruptly, her account being run by a lawyer for state poultry interests through a disreputable broker.

She lied for good reason: To admit otherwise would be to confess taking, and paying taxes on, what some think amounted to a $100,000 bribe.

2. The abuse of presidential power known as Travelgate elicited another series of lies. She induced a White House lawyer to assert flatly to investigators that Mrs. Clinton did not order the firing of White House travel aides, who were then harassed by the FBI and Justice Department to justify patronage replacement by Mrs. Clinton's cronies.

Now we know, from a memo long concealed from investigators, that there would be "hell to pay" if the furious first lady's desires were scorned. The career of the lawyer who transmitted Hillary's lie to authorities is now in jeopardy. Again, she lied with good reason: to avoid being identified as a vindictive political power player who used the FBI to ruin the lives of people standing in the way of juicy patronage.

3. In the aftermath of the apparent suicide of her former partner and closest confidant, White House Deputy Counsel Vincent Foster, she ordered the overturn of an agreement to allow the Justice Department to examine the files in the dead man's office. Her closest friends and aides, under oath, have been blatantly disremembering this likely obstruction of justice, and may have to pay for supporting Hillary's lie with jail terms.

Again, the lying was not irrational. Investigators believe that damning records from the Rose Law Firm, wrongfully kept in Vincent Foster's White House office, were spirited out in the dead of night and hidden from the law for two years -- in Hillary's closet, in Web Hubbell's basement before his felony conviction, in the president's secretary's personal files -- before some were forced out last week.

Why the White House concealment? For good reason: The records show Hillary Clinton was lying when she denied actively representing a criminal enterprise known as the Madison S&L, and indicate she may have conspired with Web Hubbell's father-in-law to make a sham land deal that cost taxpayers $3 million.

Why the belated release of some of the incriminating evidence? Not because it mysteriously turned up in offices previously searched. Certainly not because Hillary Clinton and her new hang-tough White House counsel want to respond fully to lawful subpoenas.

One reason for the Friday-night dribble of evidence from the White House is the discovery by the FBI of copies of some of those records elsewhere. When Clinton witnesses are asked about specific items in "lost" records -- which investigators have -- the White House "finds" its copy and releases it. By concealing the Madison billing records two days beyond the statute of limitations, Hillary evaded a civil suit by bamboozled bank regulators.

Another reason for recent revelations is the imminent turning of former aides and partners of Hillary against her; they were willing to cover her lying when it advanced their careers, but are inclined to listen to their own lawyers when faced with perjury indictments.

Therefore, ask not "Why didn't she just come clean at the beginning?" She had good reasons to lie; she is in the longtime habit of lying; and she has never been called to account for lying herself or in suborning lying in her aides and friends.

No wonder the president is fearful of holding a prime-time press conference. Having been separately deposed by the independent counsel at least twice, the president and first lady would be well advised to retain separate defense counsel.

What we have today is a semen-stained presidency.

A presidency is a terrible thing to waste, but that's what Bill Clinton is doing.

And now it is time for those Democrats who aspire to national leadership and credibility to speak up - to place principle ahead of partisanship.

This would be honorable - and smart politics as the November elections approach.

So far only Pat Moynihan and Joe Lieberman seem willing to see and speak the truth.

If Gerry Ferraro, Chuck Schumer and Mark Green want to make the ethics case against Sen. Alfonse D'Amato after the primary, they will be more believable if they start speaking more candidly about their own party's scandals. For starters, they should all be demanding an independent counsel to probe all the dirty money in the '96 Clinton campaign.

If Bill Bradley, Sen. Bob Kerrey, and Rep. Richard Gephardt are thinking about running for president in 2000, they should start doing what Howard Baker and few other Republicans did during Watergate - being impartial and intelligent interpreters of the truth, regardless of politics or party loyalty.

To me, one definition of a liberal is someone who is willing to hold the powerful and the privileged accountable for their actions.

The country needs leaders who will call every situation strictly on its merits, without poll-filtered calculation.

I know this is not easy. I've felt the dismay and hostility from my fellow liberals over the dozen columns I have written this year hammering Clinton on several fronts, including stonewalling on dirty campaign money and lying about sex.

But what's right is right. Those who seek public leadership can't dodge the truth or deal in double-talk any longer.

We are now approaching the moment of truth in our national soap opera.

The president's popularity and credibility are finally starting to sag under the weight of the emerging evidence, and his own prolonged refusal to explain, respond, or confess.

His popularity stayed afloat so long because his enemies were mostly right-wing fanatics and haters.

But now the tide has turned, and decent Democrats have to save their honor.

The moment of truth requires truth-telling.

It's time for Steve Brill to apologize to ABC-TV reporter Jackie Judd, who originally broke the story of the semen-stained dress that is now being tested by the FBI lab for DNA evidence.

Judd was bashed by Brill the Shill - a Clinton contributor - quite unfairly.

It's time for Gloria Steinem to retract her feminist apologia for Clinton's conduct, and acknowledge that Maureen Dowd has been more faithful to the principles of justice and feminism.

It's long past time for Democrats to recognize this is no longer about sex or adultery. It's about obstructing justice, breaking the law.

Common sense (and some tips I have received from Washington insiders) suggests that Clinton played some concealed role in encouraging the $500,000 in hush-money payments to Webb Hubbell, who was Hillary Clinton's law partner and Clinton's deputy attorney general. Hubbell's benefactors were Clinton's contributors.

The evidence of obstruction is mounting in the Lewinsky saga - the hasty retrieval of gifts, government jobs secured and offered, encouragement to lie in the Paula Jones civil deposition, the concealment of evidence like the gifts and the dress in question.

It may never be proven, but some form of obstruction by the White House may be the explanation for Attorney General Janet Reno's continuing refusal to appoint an independent counsel in the probe of illegal Asian money that tainted the 1996 Clinton-Gore campaign.

There is no plausible explanation for Reno's failure to do her duty in this most serious case, especially after she has recommended independent counsels when the targets were Cabinet members like Henry Cisneros and Mike Espy, accused of much more petty crimes.

The director of the FBI, Louis Freeh, a former federal judge, has written a compelling memo arguing why an independent counsel is necessary, and why Reno's objections have no legal basis.

A similar memo has been sent to Reno by Charles LaBella, who is now quitting after leading the probe of Clinton's fund-raising, and securing several mid-level indictments and guilty pleas.

Reno's misreading of the independent-counsel statute is so incomprehensible that political influence from the White House seems a simple but plausible explanation for such stubborn idiocy.

The legalistic endgame may drag on for another year. But the judgment of history is becoming clear.

Bill Clinton, who listened to Hollywood producers like Harry Thomason and media consultants like James Carville. will be remembered as the sitcom, soap-opera president.

The man who started out with such high hopes and good will, trying to reform our health-care system, will go down in history as just one more case of squandered potential.

Clinton's real story is a Tysonesque case of insatiable adolescent appetites for personal pleasure, and invincible hubris, causing amazing recklessness and self-damage.

Hillary has NOT passed all the tests for an Honors degree in Christianity, but she has PASSED the first test. You can't argue with that. The cornerstone of Christianity is forgiveness and unconditional love. If you can't pass this test you can't call yourself a Christian. You can call yourself an "Christian wannabee" maybe, or an aspiring Christian, but you are not yet a True Christian.
